Many! By their nature, biodiversity, heritage, warmth and hospitality of the people living there, the low crime rate, lack of an army. Many places in the world are different in these different aspects. Costa Rica is not only different, is another place, a new world. The so called "Central American Switzerland".

Education: The literacy rate of Costa Rica is 97%, the highest in Latin America. Elementary School (for both genres) was declared free and obligatory (financed by the Government) since 1869.

Respect for nature and biodiversity: Costa Rica has set aside more than the 25% of its territory to national parks and protected reserves, ensuring a great potential for eco-tourism with a wide range of adventure activities.

Consolidated democracy: With a population of 4 million inhabitants, Costa Rica has the right to be considered one of the oldest and most consolidated democracies established in Latin America.

Politics: In 1882 the death penalty was abolished, the armed forces are no longer present in Costa Rica since 1949, and the military budget was earmarked on education.

Nobel Peace Prize: Awarded to former President Oscar Arias Sanchez in 1989. Several prestigious international organizations dedicated to human rights are based in Costa Rica

And finally, with its 1,500 km of coastline and lush vegetation, the country has the widest variety of flora and fauna and extends over a wide range of micro climates; Costa Rica fully justifies its reputation as a natural paradise, social and democratic.
